A Little Bit of Whitman


Walt Whitman wrote some of the the most quintessential American poetry. In a way he spoke for his generation on many issues. He was perhaps most famous for an extremely long (35 separate chapters with many segments per chapter) poem called Leaves of Grass. It is sometimes referred to as a poetry collection, but Whitman saw it as one comprehensive poem.

Take a look at this website to get an exhaustive list of the segments of Leaves of Grass. Individually and with your partner(s) write notes and quotes for two segments.
